baby sawyer #4 poll time!

It's that time again...35 weeks have come and gone and now we are only 5 weeks away from our due date!!  I'm sorry I have been so terrible at blogging.  My personal computer is a paperweight (overloaded with stuff) and using my iPad mini is not ideal for blogging...thus blogging has not happened.

Here is the link to our Baby Poll...just for some clarification when choosing the due date.  According to my last period (TMI) my due date should be September 5th, but according to early ultrasound my due date should be September 10th.  I have been going by the September 5th due date, only because it is sooner :).

Can't wait to see what you all think!

cold, cavities, canucks, and cupcakes

It has been cold!! We've had snow, freezing rain, and just plain 'ol miserable rain! We are so very ready for spring around here!

Natalie had her first two cavities filled this past week. She has two more to go. While that are numbing each area they are also pulling some of her front teeth. She has been having her adult teeth grow in behind her baby teeth, and there is a lot of overcrowding going on! So far she has lost three on top and three on the bottom. They still want to pull one more on top and three more in the bottom. Poor girl. She did great at her last visit though and I don't think she is too scared to go back. :)

On Friday night Shaun and I got to go on a date to the Canucks game! My parents offered us tickets and we were happy to take them off their hands (thanks Dad & Mom)!!! Even though they lost, it was still a good game and it was just nice to be together!

Over the weekend I was quite busy with cupcake orders. This is just one of the parties I made cupcakes for. I also made cupcakes for a Barbie party, an Oscar party, and my niece Makenna's blue bird party.

So that's what's been keeping me busy. Will try to remember to update here more regularly! It needs to become habit again. :)

12 week appointment

I went in today for my 12 week checkup. Shaun and Koen came along because my doctor had said last time that he'd do a quick ultrasound to see the baby at this appointment. Everything looks good! The baby was wiggling it's body and arms all around...looked like a little jumping bean. So cute! It was so amazing to see it moving and real!! After feeling so sick the last 6 weeks and then even worse from the stomach flu...it was just a relief to see everything is okay! The heartbeat was at 156 and it looks like I'm measuring just under 12 weeks, so my due date now will be more like the 9th/10th of September.

Sorry the picture is quite blurry...it's a iPhone picture of the small ultrasound screen. The "big" ultrasound us coming up April 14th.

Another huge blessing today was one of my friends from church lent me a bag of her maternity clothes which are all so cute and fit perfectly!! So thankful.

It was a good Monday!

the kids response

We wanted to be able to tell our kids first, before we told our other family and friends.  So we told them quite early.

I had been researching creative ways to tell your kids they're having another sibling but didn't see anything.  Just as I was doing that, Natalie was taking out her school homework and art from school.  She pulled out a banner she had made before Christmas, but just pulled it out for me to see.  It was a Christmas light chain with six bulbs, and each bulb says a letter.  F-A-M-I-L-Y.  I took it and hung it on our fireplace, and as I was doing that I counted the bulbs.  Huh.  Six bulbs.  Six people in our family.

So I called Shaun up and he looked at it...the kids just so happened to be in the same room as us so he said, "Hey guys, this is really cool because Nat made it.  But it's also cool because there is a light bulb for each member of our family."  Natalie and Landon quickly counted and said, "No! There are six lights and there are only five people in our family!"  And Shaun said, "No, look."  And then he pointed to each bulb and named it one of each of us.  For the last one he said, "And this one is the baby that is in Mommy's tummy."

Such a great moment!  Natalie literally cried tears of joy!  She ran up to me and gave me the biggest hug, with tears streaming down her face.  :)  And Landon said, "Are you telling the truth?  Really?!  Really?!"  And Koen punched me.  :)

Then the kids proceeded to re-enact the whole thing over...and over...and over again.  I don't think they will ever forget that moment.

Neither will I.

after 2 years...i'm back!!

I've done some thinking...and had some persuading from my old readers...and I've decided to come back to blogging.  There is an awful lot I need to catch up on, and I will get to that...eventually.

The biggest reason I'm back? Well, we're adding to our family!  Baby Sawyer #4 is on its way!!  I know a lot of you are really surprised by this so I'd thought I would answer some questions I know you're *dying* to ask!

When is Baby Sawyer #4 due?

September 5th!!

How have I been feeling?

Terrible!! This has by far been the worst morning sickness I've had in any pregnancy.  With the other kids I remember feeling nauseous on and off...but this one started at 6 weeks and I felt nauseous all. day. long. Woke up feeling sick. Went to bed feeling sick. Never threw up, but wanted to because I think I'd actually feel better!! Only time I felt good was when I was sleeping!! And I have been just exhausted! My house has seen better days as most days I only managed to get my kids and myself out of bed. And fed. And that'd about all I did during the day!
Thankfully in the last few days I have taken a turn for the better...although not before succumbing to the stomach flu earlier this week!

Were we planning this?

This is the first question I have been asked 99% of the time after we tell people! So funny. I think it's because most people thought we were done...I mean three is a good number. We thought so too, for awhile...and then God changed our minds. Well, He actually changed Shaun's mind because I have always wanted at least four kids but Shaun was very done at three!
We talked about it last summer and decided to pray about it...honestly I had been foolish for awhile and thought I had "control" over how many kids we had. I assumed that if we "tried" it would definitely happen and therefore it would have been our choice and not God's. I know that sounds so silly now that I am putting it into words. But since we conceived so quickly with Natalie, and Landon and Koen were both "oopsies" (that we are SO very thankful for!!) I thought that it would happen immediately and that scared me because I didn't want to have another child unless God wanted us to have another child!  We also have been tossing around the idea of adoption...so...we prayed.  And decided to "see what would happen"...which basically means I thought about nothing else and tracked everything!! And then...I got my period. Huh?! Didn't I have control of this? So...we tried another month. And, I got my period again. What were we doing wrong??
Somewhere in the middle of all this God revealed to me that I have no control. He is the Creator and author of life!  God's Word makes it so clear that He opens and closes the womb...He gives and takes life. All things are under His sovereignty, and if He planned for us to have another child, it would be in a His will! Okay, Lord...we trust You...
December came and I had the biggest cupcake order yet (800 cupcakes! More on that later...) and life just got busy. We decided to just really not worry about it...and of course, that is when it happened!
So all that to say...yes...we planned...we tried...and we are blessed to be adding another child to our family!!

Any food aversions and/or cravings?

So far the only thing I cannot stand is coffee...which is nothing new. Just like every other pregnancy! This morning I actually made myself a cup (first time in 6 weeks!) and I had a few sips. Which is a miracle because before this even the smell of coffee on someone's breath made me gag!  No real cravings yet...although I do find if I don't eat regularly I feel sick or like I'm going to bite someone's head off!  Dangerous...so I'm trying to make wise choices...sometimes successfully...other times not!

Are we going to find out what we are having?

I don't think so!  We didn't find out with the first two and then found out with Koen...and honestly I loved the surprise at the end just so much better than finding out beforehand.  That's what we say right now, anyways. :)

Here's a picture...I am showing MUCH earlier this time around.  I actually think the baby is just pushing all my fat out, but nonetheless I can't suck it in any longer!
